1. What HIPAAspeak is
HIPAAspeak is an on-device clinical translation tool for licensed healthcare professionals. It uses Apple's built-in speech recognition, translation, and text-to-speech frameworks to facilitate communication between clinicians and non-English-speaking patients.
2. What HIPAAspeak is not
HIPAAspeak is not a certified medical interpreter. It is a technology aid. Translations are generated by machine learning models and may contain errors. For critical clinical decisions, high-risk procedures, or informed consent, a certified human interpreter should be used.
3. Who can use it
HIPAAspeak is available only to verified healthcare professionals:
- National Provider Identifier (NPI) — physicians, NPs, PAs
- ARRT certification — radiologic technologists
- Active state nursing license — registered nurses
- BLS certification with employer verification — medical assistants
Misrepresenting your credentials will result in immediate account termination.
4. Your responsibilities
- Use HIPAAspeak as a communication aid, not a replacement for professional interpretation in critical situations
- Verify that translations are contextually appropriate before acting on them clinically
- Do not attempt to bypass the app's security features
- Do not use the app for any purpose other than facilitating clinical communication
5. Privacy
All translation processing occurs on your device. We do not receive, store, or have access to any clinical content. See our Privacy Policy for complete details.
6. Pricing
- Pay-as-you-go: $1 per minute of active translation
- Solo: $99/year — unlimited translation for one clinician
- Team: $399/year — unlimited translation for up to 5 clinicians
Payments are processed by Stripe. You may cancel at any time.
7. Limitation of liability
HIPAAspeak is provided "as is." We make no warranties about translation accuracy. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for damages arising from the use of machine-generated translations in clinical settings.
8. Changes
Material changes will be communicated through the app before they take effect. Continued use constitutes acceptance.
